The soapmaker
Like many cottage businesses, RainDance Soaps® began because a person loved something and wanted to offer it up to others. Carrie has been making soap since the late 90s, and began her business in 2001 as Cascade Soapworks; she rebranded as RainDance Soaps® in 2003. She thoroughly enjoys the creative process and has a healthy respect for the chemistry behind soap, and she hopes you enjoy her soaps as much as she does - because she can and does use every single soap she creates.
When not in the soap studio, you can find Carrie enjoying a variety of activities from reading to baking, gardening to knitting.
Tread softly
Whenever possible, we utilize organic, free-range, and local ingredients from the greater Seattle / Puget Sound region of Washington state (a few of the herbs and botanicals are grown organically on-site). Those that are not available locally are sourced from companies with similar ethical business practices - such as no animal testing and environmentally-responsible partnerships with suppliers and growers, fair-trade agreements, etc. We support local farms and economies rather than importing whenever possible, further reducing our carbon footprint with reduced shipping of ingredients.
Our Values
As a small business, our personal values are inextricably tied with our business. You should know exactly what you are supporting (and not supporting) with your purchases from RainDance Soaps®. You are, after all, voting with your dollar; by supporting a small business, you support a family rather than invisible shareholders.
In turn, we support a variety of charities each year with monetary and physical donations. As we consider how and to whom we make our donations, you may see special batches of soap made to benefit a particular cause, or that we are donating a portion of our entire sales.
